I continue to take on projects to help raise awareness of the insidious nature of suicide, 

and to help develop life affirming options for people to deal with such unbearable pain. 

A new documentary film, "Suicide: The Ripple Effect," contributes to this.

I am hosting a screening for the film on Thursday, May 31, 2018, 7:30pm at the 

Solomon Pond Mall Regal Cinemas in Marlborough, MA. I hope you can make it!

BACKGROUND: In 2015, I finished writing and publishing a book about my father's suicide and the resulting clustering in my family tree. The title is "Unraveling My Father's Suicide" (FB Page  and  website).

I gave my presentation on Thursday, February 11, 2016. The talk is available for viewing on youtube here. I hope you find it informative, but I have to say I found the Question & Answer segment encouraging. Some very thoughtful questions about suicide were asked and the audience interacted well with each other.

Upcoming Book Talk - February 11, 2016 - I Hope to See You There!

I will do some readings from my book and discuss my personal experiences. I will also discuss what drew me to writing this book and how I decided to self-publish. Libraries & Sad Update to Unraveling My Father's Suicide

LIBRARIES
I am a strong supporter of the public library system throughout our country. Once I discovered the one in my neighborhood, a new world opened up to me. From writing articles on their computers to borrowing DVD movies of all kinds to borrowing books to borrowing books & movies from across the state to attending discussions on stone wall building to giving a presentation about my book to the locals to volunteering for them and learning about cataloging.

Since May 2015, I have donated several copies of my book to the libraries in my area. SAD UPDATE to UNRAVELING MY FATHER'S SUICIDE

It is with much sadness that I share the following news. My cousin Ethan (pseudonym) took his own life on Christmas Eve in the same location his older brother took did the same several years ago. My older cousin shot himself at the top of the Rock Rimmon ledge, while the most recent suicide was done by jumping off that same ledge. Ethan is mentioned on pp. 38 & 50 as having ongoing struggles with suicidal ideation.

I was shocked. For some reason, I thought the suicides in my family tree would stop with the completion of my book. There is no logical reason for that, just an unconscious desire, I guess. I hope you rest in peace, cousins. +

I do not know exactly when my book will be published (hoping for this year), but I do know it will be sent to my editor on February 22, 2014.  It is amazing how fast content can get moved around or deleted when there is a deadline.  It's all good, though.  Something needs to come along to motivate me to make decisions about the final manuscript.

I am a little anxious.  I have three weeks to go through a handful more of chapters and decide if it is beneficial to add some other extraneous thoughts somewhere.  I fear that my editor is going to get my manuscript and realize he took on something that is not fixable.  Time will tell.
I'm torn between two titles:

1)  Unraveling My Father's Suicide
                         vs.
2)  Unraveling My Father's Suicide:  The Forging of a New Family Legacy

Of course, those are my ideas.  My editor may have a few others.  For now though, feel free to let me know which of the two above you like, i.e., with or without a subtitle - and why.  Or suggest another one.  Without reading the manuscript, it might be a challenge.  Give it a shot anyhow.
