The Great Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Lifegiving Holy Cross

.
Today we celebrate one of the twelve great feasts in the Melkite Catholic Church.  It is on September 14 each year.

The Great Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Lifegiving Holy Cross calls us to remember in a special way the central role of the Cross of Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ in God's plan of salvation. Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / O...ur Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ transformed the Cross. The Cross, which was a tree of death, was transformed into The Holy Cross, which is the Tree of Life. The Cross, which was an instrument of humiliation and death, was transformed into The Holy Cross, which is a sign of victory over sin and death and a means of salvation and eternal life.

The Holy Cross is a symbol of suffering and sacrifice leading ultimately to redemption, resurrection, and new life. For this reason, we wear the Holy Cross around our necks, hang the Holy Cross in our homes, sign ourselves with the Holy Cross.

The Great Feast of the Exaltation of the Precious and Lifegiving Holy Cross is a good day for us to recall how we were saved through the Holy Cross of Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the Gospels, Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ tells us we must take up our crosses and follow Him. The Holy Cross is a symbol of suffering and sacrifice leading ultimately to redemption, resurrection, and new life. - http://www.mliles.com/melkite/holycross.shtml
