I walk into a store and ask to hang in the window a flyer for a community event. The woman says, "I have to check with my wife. She is the owner."
A bishop rallies for same-sex marriage and woman priests.
My son's tenth grade teacher holds up a plastic model of a penis having an erection and shows the students how to put a condom on.
Someone claims to be an Atheist who does not believe in the concept of religious faith, yet they have unswerving faith in their precept that scientific evidence is the only way to truth. Funny that they have no scientific evidence that their precept is true.
A woman I know tells her Catholic Mass-going friend that she does not believe in transubstantiation, i.e. the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. Her friend says, "Neither do I, but I go up anyhow. Everyone does."
A Catholic nun on a medical panel in a hospital agrees that the medical team should abort the baby of a woman who is pregnant and in medical danger.
A cardinal/bishop responsible for ongoing clerical sex abuse in his diocese resigns and is reassigned to an office in Rome.
College students I know claim they have no food in their house and no money to get any, yet they just booked and paid for a trip to Florida for spring break.
Instead of following the text for Liturgy and saying, "O Lord..whose love for mankind is beyond words," the priest says, "O Lord..whose love for people is beyond words."
Or better yet, priests omit the word "men" from the Nicene Creed when we say it all together. Instead, they stay silent while the rest of the congregation says "men" just as they see written in the Missal. "..for us men and for our salvation, He came down from heaven.." becomes "..for us..and our salvation, He came down from heaven."
Until next time,
Kathleen
