Group Beseeches Planned Parenthood to Scrap Margaret Sanger, a.k.a. Eugenicist, Award

Every year, Planned Parenthood presents the Margaret Sanger Award "to recognize leadership, excellence, and outstanding contributions to the reproductive health and rights movement".  This year, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA LIst), which advances, mobilizes and represents ProLife women, and is devoted to "electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion," wrote "a letter to Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s President Cecile Richards, demanding the organization scrap its annual award named after its founder, Margaret Sanger. The organization recently distanced itself from Sanger after Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain criticized her support for 'planned genocide' of African-Americans."

"SBA List charges that Planned Parenthood hasn’t gone nearly far enough in denouncing Sanger’s abhorrent views, and although their organizations might 'diverge in mission,' calls on Planned Parenthood to 'officially bring to an end any further glorification of Margaret Sanger.'"

Although I doubt their request will be met at this point in time, it does represent one more step toward ending abortion.  To read the full article, which includes excerpts of the letter, click here
